THE HORSE

While working within the principles of the German Training Scale, Stephany sees every horse as an individual, and customizes each horse’s program as such. The basics must be established with each horse so that they are able to work in all three gaits with Rhythm, Suppleness, and Contact. These basics can be reached through several different ways, all of which depend on the horse’s breeding and current level of training. Stephany’s background has led her to work with many different breeds of horses, including Pure Irish Drafts, Quarter Horses, warmbloods, and Lusitanos.

The tenets of rhythm, suppleness and contact can be accomplished in various ways. For some horses, sending them forward helps them to realize the true gaits, and frees them to move more harmoniously. For others, the use of the halt and half steps are a must, as these horses need to learn to wait, and power more from behind to reach their potential. Still others need lateral work to help them find their gaits, as a means of going forward without rushing. When your horse is in the Serendipity Dressage program, you can rest assured that the best plan is being made for that horse, and not simply becoming a cookie cutter training horse. From starting young horses through the FEI levels, Serendipity Dressage horses shine, because the training comes from education, love and understanding.
